How do you remove the cooling fan to get access to the thermostat housing? Any other tips on replacing thermostat?

Reverse thread, attaches to water pump. 32mm "if" I remember correctly. You must whack it pretty good if it hasn't been off in a while.

hello i am new to this site. I appreciate the time and effort that everyone here is giving to all bimmer fans thank you so much.
my question is i bought a new radiator for my 1991 525i bmw i fixed it myself did everything the exact way as i removed it. But here is the problem after replacing it, it pushes back out the coolant and my idle still goes all the way down to the red mark saying my cooland level is low and that my engine is hot. What should i do to fix this problem. I am not sure about my thermostat also whether is is bad also please help be.
