I would like to know because my 04 530 has been towed to the SF BMW twice in one week with for dead batteries. I really hope this won't happen again because if it does it is sign of serious electronic problems. Yet I'm trying to look at the bright side...going two more times would constitute a buyback or a new 530  ....hahaha

oh yeah..forgot to mention..got software update during service....what was wrong with the old software?

Well, not to rub it in but my 2001 530i (picked up in March, 2001) is still on its original battery! 57,000 miles and still going strong. :)

It appears that a bad batch of batteries has made it to the market...it can happen.

Nothing is wrong with the old software but cars are like computers anymore...you always need patches or updates as new things get turned on and old things are improved or fixed.

I knwo that the E65 tends to suck the battery down. Wouldn't shock me if the E60 killed batteries too.

I wouldn't say it is uncommon...I've heard of several cases...batteries die for many different reasons.
