If it's the same as the M Coupe then it won't fit. The base of the shift boot on the E46 is, funny enough, the mirrored shape of the E36/7 shape. If you're looking for the same chrome shift gate ring that I have, it's from MGRacing.

Thanks, HACK.
I'm thinking if I have to go with a Rob Knob to eliminate "knob rattle," a piece of chrome trim around the shifter will help aesthetically smooth the transition from my mostly wood interior. Would blend in with the chrome rings around my gauges, too, I guess.
Have you guys read the tech article over on Rogue Engineering about using heavy shiftknobs? Interesting info.

Yeah... honestly, I think it's mostly FUD.
I'll believe it when I see some actual empirical or even some anecdotal evidence backing up those claims.
Maybe I'm just cynical in thinking there might be some other "agenda items" when it comes to RE.
Well, I agree they have an 'agenda' against UUC, but from a technical standpoint it makes total sense.

I agree it seems to make sense, but whether it really *matters* or not remains to be proven. I've never heard of anyone having tranny problems that could be traced back to a too-heavy shift knob. Maybe if that changes as RK-equipped cars age, I'll re-think my opinion.
:dunno:
