I currently own a 1995 BMW 525i. :rolleyes: I have a dream, that one day....within the next couple months I am planning on doing an over haul on the interior as well as re-painting the exterior. In addition to this, I plan on converting the engine and transmission.
I have tried surfing around to find estimates on converting the engine to either a 540i V8 or going all out with an M5 motor. This would include replacing the 4-speed Automatic currently in the car with a 6-speed manual. I've considered simply selling the 525i and purchasing an E34 M5 and starting from there. Unfortunately, I've spent more than enough on an entirely new suspension system already. So selling the 525i is not an option.
I've contacted several BMW scrap yards for any available, intact engines/trans. How much should I plan on spending to purchase an engine and to convert to a 6-speed E34 M5 / 540i / M3 engine??
