Heard there was a recall on several thousand Minis... just haven't heard what it was for. Anyone have news?

Found this at USA Today:
The company said the Mini Cooper, which went into production last year, has a problem with a cable connecting the gearshift to the gearbox, which could result in the car getting stuck in one gear.
