Hi, I just signed up to this forum. Well, I guess i should go on to tell you guys what is wrong with my car.

I own a 1995 540i, it's a V8 4.0 and it has 110800 miles on it and is automatic transmission. The problem i have is that whenever i push the gas pedal all the way down to the floor the car speeds up and as soon as it changes gear the check engine light comes on and the car kinda stalls, as if the engine turns itself off really quick and comes back on. Its really weird and frightening. I wanted to know if any of you guys have ever experienced this and maybe know whats wrong with the car. Thanks in advance.

Is there a button on the floor for when you press it all the way down, it hits? And then it acts funny there?

No acctually it happens a lot now.. It also stall and stuff when it wants... it has 193,000... Do you think that the transmission is going? Cause i know something is wrong ... I bought it like at the beginning of the winter for 2500

Get the codes read.... Probably a failing coil, spark plug, or wire.

just give it a little tune-up, change sparks, clean filter, and all that stuff. i had experienced the same problem but it was wit a 740i. because long time didnt use and engine was very dirty..

I Had the same pb with mine 1 year ago, the pb was a faulty crankshaft sensor... not expensive and quick to fix... Anyway, the diagnostic will tell you what it is...

go have the codes read... or do a stomp test yourself.
