[FONT=Arial Narrow]So the X3 has been in my hands for a year now.... slowly ive been changing some things to make it sharper, such as tints, debadging, tips, K&N Filter, Dinan Chip. So today my friend and I were bored... so we decided to paint my calipers..... MISSION SUCCESSFUL!

What is exactly is debadging? I've seen it mentioned here before but I'm not clear on what it is.

Removal of the "X3" from the rear hatch and the "3.0" from the front sides, for example, on the X3.

Okay, that's what I figured. But I don't get it. Are those things that annoynig? I suppose it gives a somewhat cleaner appearance but I don't get it otherwise. Ah well, to each his own.

Yes, I debadged the rear "X3" to give it a cleaner look but left the "3.0" on the front. But like you said, to each is own :)

Great question Rob V. I too wondered what debadging meant...i just thought it meant removing the sticker from the sun visor. I agree that to each is own. It never occurred to me to "debadge." I use to assume that a car was in an accident when i didn't see the Badge on the back. Like after the repair, it wasn't replaced. I guess I was wrong.
However, in PA/NJ, dealers like putting there own emblem on the rear of the car. I told mine not to do so unless he was willing to pay me a monthly advertising fee. So, I guess those that "debadge" their cars don't want to use the back of the cars as a bill board.

You may want to just attach those pictures to your post. It looks like you are trying to link them directly from a T-Mobile site that requires a log-in.

It always had the impact on me that a de-badged vehicle was done, so you couldn't tell if (for example) it is an X3 3.0 or a 2.5 - or in the case of the sedan a 325 or a 330.
I think it is an age related thing.
Apparently however - some do it for looks............. :dunno:
