Anyone have a recommendation for a cargo liner? Lip/no lip? Carpet / plastic? pros/cons?

I often have a dog crate in the back area and want something to protect the carpet.
Thanks!

I bought this cargo liner from my BWM dealer (see below picture). I use it for my 105 pound dog (I don't use a crate, but it protects the cargo area carpet from his paws, fur and dirt). It can be had cheaper on-line though (then what I paid my dealer). It comes in black, grey or tan:

If it protects well from my large dog, it will do fine with a crate. Here's my dog in my old jeep:

If you want it, www.pacificbmw.com is having a nice price on them now -- $47.60 (go to parts then accessories/wheels):

Cute dog. Are you sure that is an X3 he's sitting in? :p
I saw the one you are showing in the catalog but I'm worried the crate door won't open because of the lip on the liner. I know I'm being slightly picky but I'm thinking I would have to lift the crate over the lip - as the door will actually be lower than the top of the lip.

Hmm.. :dunno:

No that's my old Jeep Cherokee -- I don't yet have a picture of him in the X3.

You could get the cargo liner that is meant to stop stuff from sliding around. That doesn't have a lip.

I have the "same" X3 you do and two Golden Retrievers. I use the OEM cargo liner with the lip. Only two problems, it slips out of place so it needs to be velcro'ed down, and there is still a lot of fur and dirt that gets on the perimeter. My dealer threw the liner in as part of the deal, but I gladly would have bought it. Indispensable for wet dogs.

My dealer threw in the Plastic Cargo liner, without lip. It is a very good to have item. I think carpet liner isnt good, you will end up having one more thing to clean up.
the plastic cargo liner keep dirty away, easy clean. The BMW one even comes with four holes that my cargo rail hooks can penerate through.

Any chance you have a product number from the line without the lip? I've looked high and low for a cargo liner without a lip. Thanks!

My dealer charged me $75.00 for it -- I got ripped.

The one I purchased from Bimmerspecialist is in fact black. I like it a lot and the fit is perfect.

Check shipping costs before deciding who has the best deal.

I, too, purchased one of these and yes, it is black. It does fit the cargo area very nicely.

It seems a little light, but it is easy to take out and shake off. Plus, if you use the LATCH anchors in the back, this one has the cut-out areas marked for you to cut out with a sharp knife. You can see the LATCH and tiue-down cut-outs in the picture.
