X5 Rim Width

What's the max width I can go on the rear of the X5 4.4i 2004?

At www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com/) when I pick 2004 X5 4.8is, I can pick 23x11inch rims.
When I do 2004 X5 4.4i I can't do that. Why not?

Does the 4.8is have different rolled fenders or something?

The 4.8is I am told has large flared fenders.
