Vince, I finally did it! I washed, dried and applied Zaino to the V70 and while waiting for it to dry thought I might go ahead and do the Step shift pattern reversal... next thing you know, I've got an ice pack on my forehead! Not kidding, I did… smacked myself right in the head, just above the eye... and HARD! That sucker is on there! Anyway, got my bearings and finished up the rewire. Works flawlessly! Thanks for all your legwork on this one. Now for the bezel, hehe.

I was wondering where you were ...
I hope the headache subsides!
BTW, what engine do you have in the V70? There are two different versions over here - one with 140hp and another "tuned" version with 170hp. Any differences over there?

It's a GLT (light turbo) so 190HP and 199lbft of torque
BTW, I haven't been feeling well the last few days and so not posting much... gives alex a chance @ my spot if he doesn't already have it ;)

I guess they have different names for the same vehicles. I am not much of a Volvo fan - aside from their passenger buses.
Get yourself well. Alex will still be here when you are back in fighting shape! At least you had the energy to Zaino the Volvo ... :D

Lil, with all the warning, you're not supposed to be looking directly overhead when pulling...idea is to stop your hand before you hit the headliner. How long did it take? How do you like it? push + = POWER pull - = cruise! eh? :D

Time to do change was 15 minutes max... +10 min of ice pack LOL
I think the warning should suggest putting a put a pillow between the knob and head :)

Aww..man!!! Be careful there! :( The first time I pulled out the knob, I nearly hit my face though. Hmm...my nose and other facial stuff still intact :D
When did you reverse it? Just now? Have you taken it for a drive yet? ;)

hmmm...I am getting used to the pattern without looking at the bezel though. John, how about you? Wonder where Alee is...his bezel is supposed to be in today.
I'd say: + = BAM! and - = Chill...

Hey guys, I'm still here. No bezel today. It's being shipped from Germany. I'm told Monday now.
I have a motorcycle helmet in the basement somewhere. Maybe I should put that on before trying to yank the knob when I do the reverso!

Aye Monday now?? ;) Remember to take some pics ok? :)
Is your helmet 3/4 or full face? :D LilEccentricJ's idea of a pillow is just as good.

Full face. My head might not fit into it anymore though. :D
Here's another option...

Al, that thing needs at least five coats of Zaino to match your paint :D

I was used to the pattern immediately, very natural. Who looks at the bezel while driving anyway?:)

Vince, I did the change this afternoon and it works just fine! Went to dinner and it was very intuitive. I prolly won't do the bezel since I never look down at thing anyway. To be honest, I still like S D better.
now, somebody please write up a 5-spd tranny swap for the step! hate this thing... arhhhhh... =)

Exactly,
I fool with the manual every so often but use S most of the time. What happens to me sometimes is I'll put it in 1, be behind some cars at a stop, start and then forget I'm in manual and wonder why the car's revving so high. Such is life in a step. If I had different driving conditions other than city commute, I'd probably use the M mode more.

I find myself doing the same over-rev thing too. I used to have a 99 STS with the PAS (Performance Algorithm Shifting) and I must say that the BMW SD mode is far supperior to Cadillac’s!!! The Sport mode just works, gives you the power when you need it and keeps the revs low when not needed. Best of both worlds really.
