I live in northeast Queens, NY and recommend you join the BMW Car Club of America (www.bmwcca.org). When you join, you will become a member of the New York Chapter (http://nybmwcca.org) of the Club. I've been with the Club since 1991 and they are pretty active. Check out the provided links and read the NYBMWCCA's newsletter online.

FYI: Based on the NY BMWCCA events calendar, there is an autocross event on Saturday, 07/16 at Nassau Coliesum. You might want to check it out and meet Club members.
