Sure, there may be a lot of miles but this is a 2002 for $16,000.....Does that seem low?

Secondly, is this an outright scam or am I missing something....

I always stick to the old saying "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is". However, if they are local you might want to go check it out for yourself. At least to satisfy your curiosity. I heard of this one story where a scorned woman sold her husbands Porsche for about $1000 because she caught him cheating  Could be an urban ledgend though.

But yea, I would be shocked if those deals were on the level. Just don't send any money or offer to cash any certified checks and pay them the difference!

Agreed. I'd never send any money in a situation like this. But, if I were more handy or a certified tech., I would probably call up and ask to have a few hours examining the car. With a clean title, satisfactory inspection and a good test drive....heck, I'd pay $10,000 :p

I don't doubt that the car is in good condition, I just doubt they have the car at all!
