I just came back from the Ultimate Drive at BMW Seattle. Got to drive the 545i, 330i manual (I am quite impressed...), Z4 3.0 and 760Li. While I was there, the Ultimate Drive people received a call that the the East coast fleet just had a 7-Series stolen. I guess it was in NY.
Anyone heard anything?

Weird.. Every time I go to a Komen drive, the 7 always has had problems, and wasn't there. Usually it is said that it's because of a mechanical problem. Never heard about one getting stolen before though. I doubt it was a Komen event driver. You have to give your license to them before getting in the cars.
Nicolas.. I get the 3 tomorrow morning. Glad you liked it :)

No, it was definitely about a Komen car. They did not take my Driver's License, they just wrote down the number and off I was...
Larry, I am so glad you are getting you car tomorrow. Man, what a wait. I have to say that the E90 was the car in the bunch that I enjoyed by far the most. Although the fact that is was a manual with sport pack and all the others were automatics probably helps. The power band of the 3.0L engine is really impressive. And it sounds awesome in high RPM. Like every opinionated person, I disliked a few things but overall it is a very compelling package that BMW has put together.
Can't wait for the E90 330Ci :)

I remember a year ago people were in line for the 3 series vert. The car was missing for about an hour. They finally tracked it down at the persons driveway

the East coast fleet just had a 7-Series stollen. What does a 7-series stollen taste like? :dunno:

The seven was conspiciously absent at the Ultimate Drive event in St Louis this past weekend.
I was going to try and drive the 645CiC, but since it was already about 95 and 60% humidity by 10:30, I decided not to.
If there is an Ultimate Drive near you, go. It's an absolute blast. Plus you get to flog an A4 and a G35. The G35 is truly craptacular at the limit. The back end gets squirrely and the traction control causes you to understeer so badly that you really hope you're pointed in the direction of something soft.

Danger Will Robinson! Danger!
I nearly put one into a wall.
The back seat is even worse. All I could do to stay out of the other passenger's lap. Nearly puked too.

The seats reminded me of a cross between those found in my grandmother's 1971 Ford Galaxie and our sofa.
What a great car for a real-estate agent.
