only the '95 lightweight and the convertibles. Coupes and Sedans didn't get them

Didn't later Coupes also get them? I know the LTW and Cabs came with them.

No. No coupes (including the LTW) came with the X-brace installed. The coupes were never crash-tested with the X-brace. The LTW had the part in the trunk.
The 'vert was the only model which had it installed from the factory.

I could have swore I read somewhere that they did DO SOMETHING in regards to the x-brace for 99 M3's. They revised something, anybody know what it was?

I don't know. Never heard that. I do know that there is no documentation that shows the brace being installed on any E36 Coupes.

I was thinking the same thing, but not 100% sure.

The M3s are pre-drilled for the x-brace, while 325/328s are not, is that what you're thinking of?
I had mine installed at the same time as new shocks and springs, so I could never judge its effect. :(
