I've just returned from having new front discs and pads and noticed that a clip is missing from one side on the front. I dont know what the clip is for. I have a 600 mile journey tomorrow. Is is essential?

I'd stop by a dealer and pick up a clip. They hold the outer pad in place. It won't fall out without the clip, but it would probably wear unevenly and make a lot of noise. :)

The clip exists for the exclusive purpose of reducing noise. It's completely unnecessary for the functionality of the brakes.
