I have recently been "appointed" Social Chairperson for our BMW CCA chapter. While we are an active chapter, most of our past events have centered around track events, with the exception of a big banquet each year. This is fine, as we are a BMW Club, however we would like to see a greater variety of social events be added to our calendar.

With so many posters to this site, I decided to see what other chapters and clubs have been doing within their own circles as far as social events go. I admit to drawing a blank when I try and think up something new.

Any and all legitimate ideas are most appreciated!!!!

Tech sessions are a blast. We are lucky to have Terry Sayther down here in Austin, one of the top independents in the country. See if you have a local shop that would host something.

Also Clear Car contests are fun, and local drives (find a fun road and a good place to eat).

The LA Chapter has a pretty wide variety of events besides the obligatory track, autocross, and Christmas party/banquet. We almost always have a yearly Clean Car Contest, which this year included a Chili Cook-off. We do a yearly Wine Tasting trip to the local wineries for a weekend. We have done several tours of the Petersen Automobile Museum and the BMW Vehicle Preparation Center in Oxnard (the VPC is the west coast port of entry and the prep center for BMWs being delivered to the western regions). We usually manage to snare a bunch of VIP tickets to the LA Auto Show to attend private presentations by BMW. We have had Detailing Clinics hosted by one of the local detailing supplies retailer. And a few other things that are more social, but still somehow connected to cars and BMWs, that I can't remember off hand.

What I would recommend that you do is to surf the various chapter web sites and see what kind of events they have on their calendars.

read the Chicago club's schedule at Windy City BMW (http://www.windycitybmw.com/home/eventList.asp) Besides track and autocross events, there's a picnic at a local car muesum, a swap meet/vintage car show held on ZF premises (which is right out my office window), and a multi-day driving tour through Wisconsin. Me, I'm in it for the driving schools.

You're in Pennsylvania right? You could A: find a field or some woods and have a Kegger. B: have a Scrapple eating contest C: Have a triple team closed cage match to decide once and for all if Wilkes Barre is pronounced Wilkes Barr,Wilkes Barra or Wilkes Barry.

And then grab some steaks at Pats or Ginos, some Rita's Water Ice and call it a day :D

Seriously, you aren't far from BNWNA in NJ, right? Might be a nice day trip.

Wow- Some really ideas coming through here. I especially the wine tasting- its different. Idon;t think ALL club activities have to be necessarily car-oriented. Iamtaking all the respondents ideas to heart- THANKS EVERYBODY
