In CA you can't even cross a street as a pedestrian when there is a DO NOT WALK sign.... how WEAK is that?

I'm not dissing CA, it's my second home (visiting/friends). When I'm in cali I'm the first one across the street....... it's hilarious to hear my friends "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"

it is rather North, but Sound Waves in Parsippany, NJ does a great job. They have done my current car and previous car, totally clean / no bubbles or anything. Also, if one messes up within a week they will fix it free.

You can tint the rear windows, just not the fronts. Don't know if there are any % limits though...

Ahhh...I thought you couldn't tint period, regardless of which windows.

Based on the rules, is there really much use to tinting the windows in a small car? You don't get the even cosmetic look because only the rear glass and the passenger windows are tinted, and you as the driver and the front passenger still bake in the sun because your windows are clear. I couldn't see there being much thermal advantage either since only half the glass in the car is tinded and the other isn't. :dunno:

jpsquared is right about being able to tint rear side windows and rear windshield in NJ. I believe there is a percentage, but don't know it offhand.

It just so happens I'm in the tinting business in NJ, but commercially and residentially, not cars.

Two bits of caution: If you decide to have front side windows tinted, in the future do not have your inspections done at state DMV's as they will fail you if the tint is dark enough to notice. Go to local garages and pay their fee as the local garages will not care about your tint.

I've heard that the state of Georgia (might be other states doing it now too) is stopping out of state cars with tint entering their state and checking the percentage on a meter. if you fail their standard (not sure what it is) there is a HEFTY fine (like $1,000.)

You're right about the thermal advantage thrown out if only half the car is tinted. Unless you're just parking the car and use one of those crazy paper sunshades, which look hideous...

The only reason I would get the rears tinted is to hide my passengers from view - 4 yr. old in a car seat. That and the reduced glare for him. Otherwise, the laws just make it pointless.

Makes me wonder how some of these ghetto-bling machines with full all-around mirror tint drive around without getting pulled over... :dunno:

I have had 20%(only let 20% of light through) on both of my 3 series. Never been pulled over for the tint specifically, and when pulled over for other things they didn't even mention it. I guess since it isn't a "ghetto bling" machine they don't even think of it? I live in NJ where tints are rather common, but have traveled all over and never had an issue. I go to school in NH, and was pulled over there with no problem. I guess it is just luck or nice popo.

In NJ back windows can be as dark as you want. No tint on fronts or windshield (just factory) I had mine done in Toms River not sure how south you are.
