So, you know how I just got a new tire to replace my flat, and it's like the 6th flat in 5 months? Well, today, I got another flat. This will be the 7th one in 5 months. The roads weren't bad, at all. Sure, there were a few bumps, but nothing out of the ordinary. Again, I think something got lodged in my tires, and they popped. Yes, THEY!!
From the looks of it, I think both my front tires are flat. So, that would be 8 if I am right.
Gosh, I hope I am not right. What I am hoping is that my tires have just lost some pressure, and it's related, some how, to the installation of my new tires of last week. Somehow, I doubt it.
Oh boy.... I am seriously considering trading in my 6, which is only 5 months old. I don't know if how much of this I can take.

Man, don't change the whole car over some tires. I really can't figure out how the hell they managed to give out on you like that when you're saying that the roads are OK. My advice would be to change the RE050A runflats (if that's what you have) for some Pirelli Neros, if you can find them in the same sizes as the ones you have at the moment. If they're not available over there then try the Rosso's. They are better then the PS2's and maybe you'll have better luck with'em.
Is this happening randomly or are they the same tires over and over (like front left/rear right...). If that's the case you might want to check those wheels and maybe you'll find an answer that way.

God this is incredible. Have you had alignment checked? This is bizarre. u need to have everything gone over with a fine tooth comb. Either that or get a tracked vehicle :)

Make sure your rims are round...did you kiss a curb lately?

Highly unusual..... even if you worked on construction sites you would not have so many flats.
Maybe time to question if the cause might be related to a spiteful person?

Hey,
Last year I constantly had flat tires from living in a residential development (Baldwin Park- Orlando, Florida) where there were roofing nails everywhere. Apparently, this was an ongoing problem for other residents, as well. I wonder if you're driving through a construction area on a regular basis.
I've had only one flat tire (which happens to be today!) with my 650i Coupe, since November 2005. The construction zone has considerably improved.

Smooth;
Are you finding nails in the tires? It definitely could be a construction zone. I would change the route to/from work for a while.
I had 3 flats in one year. It was the first year in a new neighborhood. I couldn't go a different route there but drove down the middle of the street in front of homes under construction.

Have you considered vandalism? :dunno:

Smooth's first post was last August. Since he now has almost 10 months' more experience, it would be good for him to post and tell us what's been happening and whether he's solved the mystery of the deflating tyres.

Hey, Mal, thanks for asking. I had my tires checked for alignment, and everything was fine. I haven't had any problems with my tires since last summer.
I don't think anyone was trying to sabatoge my tires, since I'd get the flats at very random places. I can't imagine someone being so clever as to knowing exactly where I drive, and targetting my car specifically.
It all seems to be a case of extremely bad luck. But, let me qualify some of that. I think having the run flats contribute to a couple of those bad luck events. The BMW mechanic showed me a few of the debri that caused the flats. Some of them were broken pieces of glass having the size between an regular M&M and a peanut M&M. The SA and the mechanic told me that chances are that if I had regular tires instead of run-flats, that the debri would not have caused a flat, because of regular tire would have more 'give'. The glass of such small size would not puncture the tire but 'smush' in the tire.
This has changed my driving behavior. Everytime I see a street cleaner vehicle, I take another road. A few times I got a flat when I was behind a street cleaner, or on a road that was just cleaned. In my city, street cleaners really do a marginal job sweeping up dirt. They mostly kick debri like glass found on the edge of the curb, onto the middle of the road.
Anyways, thanks for inquiring.

Hey Smooth,
This is unbelievable and I am sad to hear you are going through these issues.
I hope things get better for you because I would hate for you to get rid of the 6er only to find your next car is subject to the same/similar symptoms.
Anyway, good luck my friend. If it is any consilation I will come up to your place and we can swap tyres. I have had no issues at'tal. Serious...

So, the street cleaning vehicles may have been the common thread. I'll remember that. Most of the street cleaning done in L.A. comes from the rain or the tyres of other vehicles. Budget cuts. Plus, the street cleaning vehicles have difficulty moving along on our sh!tty roads these days. Budget cuts.
I actually can't wait for my first flat with the RFs. When I bought the car I also got the road hazard warranty (at dealer cost plus $50). So, I have to bring the car in to the dealer to "activate" my rights under the warranty. The SA will probably look at the car, and then the wheel and tyre, and shake his head and tell me there will be a delay because of the road hazard warranty and then, when that's approved another delay to get the tyre. :blah: The usual bullsh!t.
I'll then shake my head because I will have the houseboy or the chauffeur bring down one of the new mounted tyres that I bought on eBay in the truck, and ask the SA to have it replaced it right there, and tell him to take his time getting the road hazard warranty activated and getting the new tyre. ;) But, I would like it within a couple of weeks. :bigpimp:
