I work for a custom shop and use my vehicle as a demo car. Needless to say the car has many aftermarket electronics that all cause their own headaches. My newest problem relates to the G35 LED tailights I recently installed. The tailights have 22 small LEDs where the old Tails just had 2 regular bulbs. The result is Tail light failure and Brake light failure error messages. I realize the ECU most likely monitors Impedence on the line to tell whether or not the bulb is burnt out, also it seems like common sense that the small numerous bulbs have a different resistance.

The guys at the shop have a part that you tap inline with electronics and has a small screw that you turn to change the impedence after the adjustable resistor. Will this solve the problem or just further complicate things? Has anyone else bought LED tailights and if so how did you resolve the error codes?

Hey man. I have the same problem. I purchased the LED taillights like the one from Bavarian Autosport. I repeatedly get the "brake light failure" warning. I think this is beacuse of the low resistance of the new LED brakelights that the OBD computer doesn't like. Did you try using the potentiometer to see if you can produce a dummy resistance to fool the computer? Much help is appreciated.
