Hi All,
Just got my BMW X3.0 2005 - Have two V710 from Motorola. One for me and my wife.
Wondering if I am stuck choosing to pair only one of the phones to the car.
Is there mulitple phone books in the BMW? Not sure what I can really do.
Regards

Hello There,
In my 750li we have 4 bluetooth phones. Once it has paired with the vehicle it wont say reading data it will just act normal. If you give it some time for about 3-5 minutes your phone will be updated. Well this is how it is for me. Please let me know how it works.
Thanks

I had the same problem with the wify and myself with V600 motorola phones. On our phones we can disable the bluetooth so that only one phone works at a time with the car. Its kind of neat, but uses a lot of battery power, unless your plug in. We each have a different phone book listing with the phones. The car will adapt to each phone but you can not use them both at the same time with the car. Hope this helps...

I am able to have both my V600 and Treo 650 paired to receive calls at the same time in my 645... but only the first one on the list calls out and has its phone list show up.

Pairing = The setup process that allows two bluetooth devices to communicate.
The BMW bluetooth will pair with up to four devices. However only one device at a time can be active. When you pair with the fifth device, the infomation about the first device you paired will be lost. The car only keeps info about the four most recent devices it paired with. Hmm, reminds me of girlfriends in college ... :)
So my wife and I can both pair our phones to our car, but only one of us could use the BMW speaker/microphone, have the phone book show up, etc., at any given time.
If two, three or four people get into the car with phones on and bluetooth enabled (after pairing each phone with the car), I do not know which phone the car would choose to actively communicate with. It would be interesting to test that.... (Mommy, no fair! The X5 likes Billy's phone best! :) )

Huh, that's interesting. A side note, I have an older V710 and I can't get mine to pair with my brother's M3. He took it into the dealer and long story short, there is a firmware update that's necessary for the older V710's. Unfortunatly every time I go into Verizon they look at me like I've opened a third eyeball, and tell me that they can't help me.

In other words, only certain phones with certain versions of software/firmware will work or work reliably with certain versions of the BMW bluetooth. I guess we could call it the bleeding blue tooth edge? :) Or maybe blue teething pains? :)
HowardForums (http://www.howardforums.com/)has some links to services that will upgrade the firmware in your phone. There are some forums there (Verizon and Motorola) whgere you could ask about how best to deal with Verizon on getting the phone updated. You might try Motorola customer service.

Hi All,
Just an FYI, both of the V710s Verizon with firmware 1.40R are working with the X3.
Steps necessary.
To Pair the phone.
Key in position 0
Hold the face button while turning the key to postion 1. Let go after that is done.
Next get the V710 into bluetooth mode and search for the BMW.
Have ready the keycode - white card that should of come with the BMW.
Enter in keycode and bond with device when asked by the V710.
When V710 says sucessfull your all set.
Turn key back to position 0.
Phone book transfer.
Start Car Normally
On the steering wheel press the R/T button
It will say Phone Active
Next you should see Phone Book Transfer message.
Once complete you will see phone book address on raido display
QUESTION for people who got this working:
Is hitting the up and down arrows only way to scroll through the phonebook on the steering whell. It seems slow.
Does the phone book dial by name (IE - Voice active - Say dial - home?)
Can you mute a call on the steering wheel? Or just have to dig out cell phone and press mute button. Not sure if that will work or not. Have not tried it yet.
Thanks

Hi all,
Just an update to all who have tried pariing with an X3 with premium package that includes the BMW assist. Year model is 2005.
When doing a pairing you will be able to scroll up and down the phone book of the cell phone. However, for voice commands to work, you have to add each contact into the X3 phone book.
This is done by holding the face button on the steering wheel for about two seconds and then releasing it.
If you don't have the voice command guide, then just say help.
It will list the commands
To save a contact in the X3 phone book
Press face - hold for two seconds - release and say save name
follow the prompts -
Remember if the system does not repaet the number back to you correctly -
just say correction and it will prompt again.
FYI to all,
One you have found all the facts to the bluetooth and voice commands everything is finally working fine.
Have fun

Hi
So far, you need to delete the entry and redo it. I have not found an edit mode.

Okay, I have paired my V710 with my X# and it works great...however, how do you switch the call back to the phone? I'm talking, get to my house and want to continue the conversation after I turn off the car.....anyone know how to do this?

OK, so the phone is paired and address book transferred. I can't seem to get any voice commands working.
Pressing/holding the face button doesn't seem to do anything.. Saying help goes unanswered, etc.
Is there a booklet for this? Can someone scan/post PDF? Else, perhaps some greater details may help.
All I can figure out so far is the up/down arrows scroll the address book and the pressing the face dials the number, pressing again hangs up.
