1995 M3 factory clutch - sprung? Unsprung?

I just received the factory clutch kit for an 8/95 production U.S. M3. The clutch disk is unsprung, unlike the disks I recall on my M coupe. Can anyone verify for me that this is correct? I'd like to know I have the right pieces before putting the car on the rack and tearing out - well, carefully removing anyway - the transmission.

BMW has used a dual mass flywheel, that does not use a spring clutch, for many years.

You do need a spring clutch if you are using a lightweight flywheel.
