First pic is the assembly plant and Zentrum. Second pic is the Performance Center.

Someone running Windows should post one of the Michelin testing facility, more fun asphalt there than the Performance Center. :)

So is everyone allowed to run on the Performance Center track? Is that were they have the M School?
And what is a "Zentrum"? Is it like an oriental setting with an open roof showroom?

The Zentrum is the mini-museum and gift shop in front of the plant. No idea what it means in German.

A small part of the first M Driving School is done at the Performance Center. The rest is done at the Michelin testing facility, which has a lot more space and more interesting stuff (road course replete w/ rumble strips, a wet course, a huge lot for autocross, etc.).

The advanced M Driving School is held at a track facility. Not sure which track they used this year, I think it was Lowe's Motor Speedway (Charlotte).

You get to drive at the Performance Center facility if you take PC delivery, or sign up for one of the BMW schools held there. Some classes hang around year-to-year (the car control clinics, New Driver's School, Women-Only Car Control Clinic, et. al.) while others come and go with models (X5 School, for example). Can always call 1-888-345-4BMW to find out what they're offering. They're all a lot of fun, and don't make a bad twosome vacation if your significant other enjoys driving.

Being local to the Performance Center, we as a BMW CCA chapter rent out the entire facility for a whole day for what we call a "Club Day". We take 32 drivers and run various events in different track configurations utilizing almost every type of car they have. The price of admission is $500 per person. We have one of these events coming up mid-November.

I've been to both M schools and the previous explanation about the events and facilities is right on target. My advanced M school was at Lowes Motor Speedway and was an outstanding experience. This year, there are 2 advanced M schools being offered at VIR. There are pre-reqs to the advanced school. It is usually the basic M school or some other professional driving school.

My 2 cents.

Other chapters also do that. NCC does it twice a year, and Tarheel also does it.

Unfortunately so far every date has conflicted with a work trip.

Thanks for the feedback.
You people are fortunate to have multi-tracks to attend/rent out for your CCH events.
We have one track here (1.3 miles) and they plan on closing it in April of 2006. :(
It's so difficult to get any track time here. With the amount of Motorsports here, you would think the State would open a new facility, but no mention of one yet....but hey we got golf courses up the....okole!
Sorry for the rant.
