So I've got my X3. (And I'm delighted). And I have bought Ice>link at Best Buy. I think they are the only ones selling it in Canada. I bought at Best Buy. No sale price, but there was a promotion that included installation.
so now I/m having second thoughts about letting them install it. Has anyone had an Ice>link installed at Best Buy? What was your experience like? If you have had it done in the Toronto area, are there other places which have installed it with as little disruption as possible?
Thanks in advance.

I personally wouldn't let Best Buy touch my car.
There are a number of car audio specialists in the Toronto area that would be experienced with disassembling a BMW. An Icelink is not a technically challenging install, but you want to find pros that know how to not scratch your panels, etc.

The best place in Toronto for any stereo work is Picture Perfect Motoring. They did the work on my Jeep and we are currently working on a design for my 530. Check them out at http://www.ppm2k5.com/ and to see my Jeep at http://scarlett.dyndns.org:81/jeep/
That being said, I did my iceLink install myself. I got it from Dension before Futureshop and Best Buy caried them. I got the radio end connection as opposed to the cd changer connection. I thought it would be easier to route the cable to the glove box from the radio then from the trunk. If you don't feel up to it, give Steve a call at PPM and tell him Blair sent you!
Good luck

Thanks. Impressive website. I think I'm going to go with Kromer though and skip the free install at Best Buy.

I was scaried to let them do the work, but they did a nice job.
They mounted the unit in the truck as requested over the nav unit. Appears to work great.

I bought my icelink from Bestbuy but did not have them install as I wanted it kept in the trunk. At the time, the cost was $50 over cost of $149.00 for unit. Since then, I have been in contact with several who have had install by Bestbuy with good reports of install and final appearance with one install routed all the way to the glove compartment -- go figure how difficult this was over simply buying the unit which hooks up to the back of the Head unit. This is probably installer/store dependent though as not all installers are created equal.
