View Full Version : Still stuck on color
Thanks for all the information. It really is helping. However, as a real estate appraiser, which I consider as a being professional shopper (the old principle of substitution), I am still gathering data. The hardest thing is selecting a color.
I know it is subjective, but I prefer the lighter colors, just not white. Someone mentioned mineral silver, which was my first choice when I got the brochure. However, I have only seen one 6 in mineral silver. It was inside the showroom and had a cream interior - beautiful car, clean, very classy. However, it was a hardtop. Can anyone post a photo of one with a convertible top and black or cream interior; preferably both. I really think this is the hardest thing to choose. Thanks for all and any help.

Here are a few pix I collected as I was trying to make my color choice. Like I said in a previous thread - you've got to see the color in the daylight to get a sense of how it looks. Its the best color IMO. Stratus is pretty nice too - but its fairly common.
I originally selected a black interior - but decided for the creme instead. And there's a reason you can't find this color on the lot - it sells too fast!
That combination looks great! Am I right in thinking that you added a rear spoiler and obviously changed out the wheels. Is the top grey or black? And, one last question, do you find it hard to keep the interior clean? Thanks so much, it really looks good.

Where did you buy the AC Schnitzer Spoiler? That's spoiler fits the car better than the Hamann spoiler.
Have you considered getting the Hamann side view mirrors? I don't like the shape of the stock sideview mirrors. I think the stock mirrors are out of character with the rest of the car body.

To all-
I looked and looked at all the colors but to me the sharpest combo on the convertible is the White on Cream/ Beige with the Black top. Very cool car, bought it 3 days ago and I get a lot of heads turning, even in car concious so cal. Love the car, although I cannot believe how fast that fuel gauge moves. I know, I know if you have to ask about the GAS Mileage on a car like this, you can't afford it!! Well I can afford it, I just wish it got a little better mpg!))
Cheers-

Are these the same BMW owners who also think that looking for value-for-money in a luxury car is pointless too?

What's wrong with 16-20 mpg? I cruised to Palm Springs the other day, top speed: 130, and averaged 18.2mpg. I was stoked :drive:

The problem is it really bothers you when ppl are saying 16-20mpg when you are getting 10-12 yourself. At least that's my case but i'm not complaning.

These are two different cars - and they're not mine :bawling: - I picked up the photos from the owners when considering the color.

AriciU,
Quite honestly, I am quoting the mpg that the car system is reading. I have never taken the time to truly calibrate it. Wouldn't that be a kicker, to find the system lying to you :tsk:

In close to 40 fill ups the idrive is averaging 3.7% high on MPG calculation (21.2 vs 20.45 actual). It can be calibrated but I have not taken the time to do it.

I have a black soft top and black interior and really didn't consider any other colors because of wear and tear issues.

I am still on my first tank, but it is no where near 18mpg, I will be lucky to get 230 miles on this tank of gas, that is approximately 12.4mpg. I do not drive with the Sport button engaged (OK maybe once or twice!), but the needle moves very quickly, I will ask BMW when I am finished with this tank...It is still worth it, even if I sit in my driveway and have all the milfs in the neighborhood gawk. I am still having a good time...)JK.

18MPG, is that what it's saying on your indicator?
Well, I don't have my manual with me, but one thing you gotta keep in mind is how fast you are going, and at what speed BMW measured it.
Also, you might want to experiment with resetting your trip computer, since I believe it averages out your mileage since last reset. Reset it for highway drive, then reset it again for city drive, and see what you get.
I've never done this, cause I don't really worry about gas. But, from a back of the envelope calculation, your 12 MPG is about right. I got a convertible.
