I was talking to my dealer about I-Pod integration. He told me about the aux input option. He called me back to tell me that starting with October Production of the 650 that MP3 integration would be standard. He wanted to know if this would help me out with my I-Pod.

Have any of you heard about the new MP3 standard option? What does it control.

What is coming is that the internal CD Player (possibly the changer as well) will now be able to play MP3 CD's. The speculation is that it is simply a software update and older 6 series would be able get the upgrade at a future date/time.

iPod interface is coming from Dension (though they have said that for a while)

I just got an 05 645 with 2k miles.

I can play mp3's on all disks, song titles show up in the i-drive.

No ipod integration though.

Personally, I don't care about the ipod, would rather give up the cd changer for a 10gb or so hard disk that can be shuttled/sync with home computer.

Tell us more. What is the build date? When u say all disks do u mean - single slot CD, single slot DVD and the 6-CD Changer?

April 05, build date, dealer/manager drove car for 6 months as demo car, only had 2k miles when I got it.

He ensured it had all the patches, or at least they were current as of September.

Plays compressed audio files suchas mp3 on cd and cd changer, not DVD. The DVD as far as I know is only good for nav unless you tweak something.

Thanks.

Probably CIP 19.x.

Over on another forum an '06 5 series fella put over 200 songs on a DVD and played in his NAV slot. I will have to double check his location however as he might have been in Europe.

My car was a dealer/manager car before I picked it up. The manager ensured every patch/sw update was in the system.
