I just had new BMW rotors, pads and sensor hardware kits put on my 328i. The rear brakes squeak at low speeds when light pressure is applied. This happens a lot when driving in city traffic. Also tried another set of pads, but got the same problem. There are ample amounts of anit-squeak goo behind the pads to try to prevent this, but I can't seem to get rid of the noise. Any chance the calipers would cause this? Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

It's there a clip thing to help prevent the squeals? (or is it anti-rattle?)

Anyway, since your break package is new, give it a few hundred miles of mild usage so the anti-rust protective coating, mould removal chemicals and the likes wear off with normal use. It should all be fine.

BTW, are they factory BMW discs and pads or aftermarket ones?

What about actually going through a brake Bedding In procedure like reccommended by.. umm... about 99% of people who know about brakes..

Here's a decent how to, along with the how come.

Click Me! (http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm)

And I'd stop with that anti squeak, I'd be sure the system is bled correctly and that the pads move in their carriers freely, I used to have to clean mine out alot, and I used a syn. grease on the tabs that the pads moved on (this was on my old Honda CRX) Also be sure to use brake parts cleaner on the rotors to get that film off the face. That film is oil to keep them from rusting/tarnishing while on store and warehouse shelves. Lastly, I always used 200-400 grit sandpaper on the face of new pads, just to get them a bit scuffed, to ensure a good bite, and no chemicals etc. left on the face of them.

Let us know how you make out!

So, I read as much advise as I could on brake pads. My BMW is a 328i standard, so the first set of rotors and pads were all BMW factory parts. After bedding in the brakes, only the rear pads squeaked. Gave them a good month and few 1000 miles but could not clear up the noise. The noise occured during low speed stops when first applying brake pressure.

Then I switched to Rabestos pads in the rear only. This was almost identical to the BMW pads. I had the s ame problem, same noise, slightly different pitch.

Finally, switched to Bendix Semi-Metallic pads in the rear. They made a higher pitch at first, while the car was creeping, not while stopping. I ran them through a bedding in process, gave them a couple more weeks of normal driving and for the first time in months... no more squeaky brakes!!!

thanks everyone for your advise ! :)
