Welcome to BimmerFest. [yes i know.. a newb welcoming a newb] but I am online, and have the time to say hello. :neener:
First off, I don't think anyone can help you until you post a pic of your new love. haha
These folks have been great thus far. Unfortunately I wouldn't want to step on anyone's feet that actually KNOW what the great parts/mods are for your particular model. I personally have a 98 328is, sure it isn't quite the same. :D
The couple Places I have ordered from, and been happy with thus far.. (I know it is a short list!!)
Bavarian Auto (http://www.bavauto.com)
Bimmer World (http://www.bimmerworld.com)
Bimmer Parts (http://www.bimmerparts.com)
Soo many places to list, so I stuck with just the 3 I have ordered from SO FAR! (I'm only a month into ownership myself..) I have called both Bav Auto and BimmerWorld (talked to James Clay himself) and have been impressed with their knowledge and openness about good/bad products. Enjoy your bimmer!

Dinan makes great aftermarket parts for BMWs but they are expensive ( www.dinancars.com ). For a good chip try Conforti

Wow, that's in nice shape.
I'd consider something like Active Autowerke's intake/exhaust/chip package. It's better to get a matched set that's been tuned properly than mix and match.
