My 650i convertible is supposed to arrive in about 3 weeks. One of the first in the USA I'm told. And already I want to change things.
I'd like to have some "body work" done to reduce the size of the "your trunk is open" bump. The dealer will sell me a trunk lid (price quoted for the 645Ci) at about $795. Does anyone know a fabricator anywhere in the US who can then re-shape it for me to reduce the size of the bussel, but keep the flowing lines? After the re-shaping I'd have it painted Monaco blue to match (I hope) the current car, and then install it.
Am I nuts? (Probably.)

Happy ownership and don't forget to post some pictures once you get it (engine shots too).

Well what do you propose to do with the trunk lid? I plan to swap mine with the AC Schnitzer's lid that has the rear spoiler. I have some other ideas for the shape of the hood that would be hard to describe in words, and would require customization. Look at some previous issues of Kit Car Builder. That might point you in the right direction in terms of molding your own lid, or getting you in contact with someone who can.
Anyways, I don't think you're nuts. I had similar thoughts about my 6er as well, for a very long time, and I still have them. What I think it indicates is a person who likes to tinker. And as such, that person is better off with beater box where ruining his car is still an affordable past time. Consider it a healthy sign of an active mind. :)
