Hello My Friends:

The guy from the LEFT-SIDE.... Meets the guy from the RIGHT-SIDE....

What R Your Specs for the new baby?

I will see my new one sometime before Thanksgiving... Good time I'll say.

Do you own a 645Cic now? If so, did you take the 2-day performance school drive here on the RIGHT-SIDE?

Congratulations. The ETA on my 650i in Southern California at the dealer is October 18, so I still may beat you. How are you going to handle the 650i and the 550 you also have on order that's supposed to be delivered at the same time?

Awesome Beewang!! - Hope we'll see some pictures!

And congrats to you too! - I also have a 650 cab coming to Harloff in San Diego. (Although my wife has already usurped it! :bawling: Anyway its "en route" so it will be arriving around the same time. I'm calling constantly - I'm sure they're sick of me by now!! :p

Is yours on the Orion Diamond, due at Pt. Hueneme around October 16? There are already three of us literally (and figuratively) in the same boat - 2 650is and a 530. Mine's Monaco blue, sport package, creme interior, steptronic (I paid my dues with my Bavaria, 3.0CS and ex-wife's Z3 stick shifts; I'm too old now), satellite radio, active steering and cold weather package (for Malibu!).

I was told (last month) by my dealer that the gas guzzler tax was $1700 for the SMG. So $1300 is $400 less (but still $400 more than an '05)

Gawd I hope so - but I'm not sure. How did you find out the shipping details?? Nicely done - SHARE!!!.

I think the Monaco Blue is an awesome choice - and actually my first pick. My wife was "stuck" on the Mineral Silver and over time I've learned to pick my battles. The cold weather package in Malibu, huh? Yep...you are getting too old!! :D

Your dealer is supposed to have info on the progress of your car, through and including the date it is loaded on the ship and the ship sails out of Bremerhaven. I don't know if BMW in New Jersey gets tired of the calls, but once my car was "on the dock" they claimed to me they had no further info and the dealer would.

I called the dealer, who was pretty slow about getting back to me (probably frosted that I drive my CL55 in there all the time, too) and I finally got a print out sheet from the dealer- which apparently only the dealer can access - showing what happened when the car was on the dock through the day the Orion Diamond sailed. (Orion was the god of the hunters, which I am -- a hunter, not a god -- so this is fate.)

In reviewing some old threads here I saw that if your ship is coming in to the east coast, which uses a different shipping line than west coast transportation, you can actually plot the progress of your ship on the Internet. I don't think NYK lines will give that info out. Probably afraid of Bin Laden getting ahold of one of our 650is.

So, call your dealer and hope for the best. Ask for a copy of the print out, too. Then tell us if you are on our boat. (Since the wife is getting this one, after you see our fotos of the Monaco blue perhaps you will order another.)

Malibu -

Sure enough. I just confirmed that my car is on the same ship with yours (brothers!). Thanks so much for the heads up - we're leaving on vacation on the 21st, so I'm hopeful I can take it around the block before we go. If not it may be sitting there for two weeks. I hope they don't use it as a test-driver.

Also - I like your signature...you can tell a lot about someone from their car history. Glad to see your no longer "confused"!

Thanks again.

Congrats Bee!! My new car just arrived this week so I know all about the difficulties of waiting. It's my first non-BMW since 1986 (and first non //M since 1990) but she is getting along well with her Euro-delivery BMW stablemate!

Post lots of pics and a full review of your car!

From what I've read on this Forum, your dealer should get it within a couple of days of its arrival at the port. One day at VPC and then on a tractor-trailer to San Diego.

But, if you are unable to pick it up, my house is between Pt. Hueneme and San Diego. I will keep it for you and drive it only very lightly (but at high speeds).

Why don't you take it on vacation with you?

There are now 4 of us on that boat. Anybody else out there? Don't be shy.

(If you look at my signature you will see that I have -- or in a week or so I will have -- owned BMWs for 4 decades. Boy am I old! And my first two were 6 bangers, although the 2002 Tii was a very sweet car and I almost bought it instead of the 3.0CS. I was going to buy the Tii for my girlfriend in 1972 and then thought to myself - why give it to her when I can give her the Bavaria and get a new 3.0CS? So I did. When the Bavaria finally died, it looked as if it had been in Iraq. Like many women she thought oil changes were a foolish invention of the oil companies. In her case she was right. No oil made no difference for the 280,000 miles she put on the car.)

So, production one month prior to delivery is not a hard and fast rule?

Garr,

I had to pull ALOT of strings thru my connections at NA to get my car deliver to me this early. :eeps: We need to chat about your deal in private. Your deal seems a bit complicated but if Neil is certain, I see no reason to doubt him. BUT MAN! I would be very nervous in your shoes.

cheers,

Bee,
See your PM; got production number on Friday; Neil came through ;). So far all is well; now I can worry about the weather and trying to drive on those tires in December in Europe.

So far there are 5 of us on this Board with BMWs on this old hulk. Where is she? Has she floated through the Panama Canal yet?
