View Full Version : Wheel Choice?
I have my final major decision to make. Wheels, which I believe to be extremely important. My choices are as follows;
1) Standard Sport Ellipsoid.
2) M6 Wheels.
3) Hamann PG3’s
I have seen a black 6 coupe with the Hamann PG3’s. I loved it; extremely hot looking car. I have also seen a 6 coupe in mineral silver with cream interior. In these colors I felt that the 6 had a more classy and elegant look. After agonizing over color choices, I selected a convertible in mineral silver with cream interior and a black top.
So, while I loved the PG3’s on the black 6, I am not sure if they will contrast with the (IMHO) more elegant look of the 6 in mineral silver. Since my wife could care less about wheels, I thought I would throw this question out to the forum. Since most everyone out there seems to love their car, I felt that this would provide me with the best information/options to base my selection on. Thanks for the help, again.

I would go with the ellipsoids. Don't forget that you can get those chromed, (sp) that might look sweet.

I'm having a brain drain on this wheels choice, as per my other thread.
But I would like to ask: are you going to give up the Run Flats? M6 doesn't come with them on but who really needs them with BMW Mobility etc.?
Me seriously thinking of style 149 - see pic in my other thread "20 inch + wheels".
The standard ellipsoid (style 121 if that's the one you're talking about) would be my pick. M6 wheels are too sparse. The other one might be too hot for the Mineral Silver choice. Great colour! I choice that too!
The more I look, the more I agree with the standard ellipsoids. I just don't know if the added chrome will go with the mineral silver as well. While they look great on a black 6, it is an entirely different look. I have only seen one 6 in mineral silver in person, and it was a coupe, but it was about the classiest looking car I have ever seen. It just seems that added chrome or racing type wheels would clash with that look. My other choices are sport package, premium sound with satellite radio and HUD. I will also order the wind deflector, but that would seem to be all I will need.
I am so busy this week, but I am hoping to order this weekend, or at the latest next week. I have been told 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. That gets it to me before the end of the year, which is around my birthday. Happy Frigging Birthday to ME!

Hello My Friends:
I have a Stratus Gray 645Cic with Ellipses and they are great but CHROME would definately set the car off. Not too Gaughty but just right for the surveyors. "For yourself too". Oh... The Ellipses are a piece of cake to clean.
I have on order a new 650Ci Mineral Silver, Grey top with the works like I have now... SMG, HUD, Active Steering, etc... I plan to buy a set of CHROME wheels myself but I will stay away from the OEM. To me, if I am going to buy OEM, I will stay with my Ellipses.
Your choice of course my friend. See snapshots of my baby with all the works and no Chrome the first round.
Let us know what you decide to do. Good Luck!

I have Min Silver, grey top, chrome ellipsoids.
IMHO, if your selection is ellipsoids then chrome is a must. Especially with Min Silver, chrome definitly sets it off. As said by others many times here, ellipsoids are a breeze to clean. Easy to wipe, and they actually "feel" good to clean, your hand flows smoothly about the rim. I ordered the car standard ellipsoids and two weeks before delivery I told my sales rep to have a set of chrome ellipsoids mounted on the car when I arrive to pick it up. When all was negotiated, I worked the chrome wheels in the deal, no charge. (I did not negotiate on the price until the car was ready for pickup, only a deposit was in place)
Also, I took serious consideration in selecting grey vs black top. To me, the grey blends the roof line smoother than black and shows very little dirt. When I saw it in person, I was immediatly convinced grey was the right color. I may be wrong here, but the boot on the hard cover is lighter with the grey top (less contrast with Min Silver when the top is down) and black with the black top. My .02.

Don't really like'em. The only ones from Radenergie that i like are the R20's. If i wanted to invest in nice wheels i'd go with HRE's. Those never fail :)

Hello My Friends:
Are you in to deep dish rims? Take a look at the Asanti's.
Breyton and ACS are classic Rims for BMer...
Hartge and Hamann too
I will choose either a set of Hartge Classic 2 or ACS Type IV & Type III. This 6er will be a Beauty. Of course I will not change the shoes (Rims) until spring '06

I would avoid cream leather. This will be very difficult to keep clean, especially in a convertible.
Even the door panels are cream in areas where you use your hands.
I wish they offered the grey as in the 3 series, so I went with black.
