Where have you mounted your Ipod (with Icelink preferably). I am about to get mine mounted and can't decide between the center console (out of the way but a little inconvenient) or beside the dash?

Just out of interest, why are you going with the ice link and not the BMW interface? Are there advantages using the ice link?

There are lots of threads that show the advantages of the icelink over the BMW interface, the biggerst being the display of songs being played over the radio display or nav.
That alone is worth it for me.

I placed the Ipod in the arm rest.
With Ice link Plus you do not need to see the screen or use the click wheel.
You control the ipod through the radio controls.
I have Nav so I can search through playlists or by Artist or Abum on the Nav Screen.
If you do not have Nav you can do the same thing it just displays on the radio display
I highly reccomend it :)

Attached is another picture (where it normally is)
I have it velcroed to the side so I can pull it out - makes it easier to plug in after I update songs on trhe ipod.
Icelink plus can attach to the CD changer cables under the armrest - makes install very easy. (see second picture)

Thaks Brian, that sounds perfect. One question, does the icelink plus turn the ipod off and on with the ignition. Or do you have to manually get at it when you start the car and when you turn it off?

The ice>Link Plus will give the iPod the "kill" command when the key is shut off or when a phone call comes in.

It will resume playing, like the CD Changer. :D

I think I will be going with the "in the console" solution but I came across the Kuda mount a German made mount that comes in leather with 3 colours specific for the BMW.
For those who want a console mount, it looks like a good alternative to the proclip. Here's a picture of it.

I'm actually good friends with Kuda USA - these are quality pieces - we offer them as well.
I'm looking for tips how to remove the center console and get to the wiring. So far I'm clueless!
Thank you for sharing the pictures and it is the most logical place for iPod with Ice Link Plus.

I have instructions for the 3-series, the steps are essentially the same. Email be directly and I'll send you a copy.
