sensor says boot is open when closed

Please help me. I have a BMW 330i covertible 2001 and yesterday the display on the dash started showing the boot as open when infact it is completely closed. The central locking works fine and the button on the key to open and lock the boot works fine it seems to just be a sensor problem. Any suggestions? Can't even work out where the sensor is and how it works.

I have the same problem with my BMW 523SE :dunno: The sensor says the boot is open even when It is completely closed :( And The boot will no longer open with the remote key, it has to be opened manually, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I had the same problem with my 98 740i a couple of years ago, It just took a trip down to my local BMW dealer in Hungerford "Dick Lovet of Hungerford", and as I always had it serviced there they sorted in for free. Thay came out to the car park with a computer and pluged it in under the bonnet and reset the boot thingy. In ten minutes I was on my way home.

Its a common problem apparently
