Hi All,
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Which brand and model tires were OEM for the E39 540iT Sport (235/45/17)? I believe they shipped with Dunlops, but don’t know which model.

I’m looking for “low dollar” summer/performance tires that wont become noisy as the miles accumulate. Any suggestions?

TIA,
Mark

I recently bought an 01 used. I think mine came from the factory with Pilot Sport A/S, that was what was on the rears and spare. I just upgraded to Pilot Sports 2 at $187/tire from tirerack. They had Goodyear Eagle F1s on special, but were unavailable when I ordered.

Common OE tires are Dunlop 8080/2000, Conti Sport Contact, or Pilot Sport.
I've never seen the Sport A/S as OE.
I'd consider the PS2 a nice step up from any of these tires :thumbup:

Hi Gary,
What's the best value on summer tires for my application? I currently have AVS ES100's which were great until my first finished my first BMW CCA Driver Education. After that, at only 9k, they became extremely noisy. Any suggestions for low-end, low road noise tires (Sumitomo, Nitto, Falken, Kumho, etc)?
Thank You,
Mark

I like the Avon Tech M500 for a tire that tested out just as well as the ES100 for grip, but with less noise problems. Other entry-level tires will give up some grip, but the new Kumho Ecsta SPT has done pretty well so far... worth considering.
