Im looking at a 97 bmw m3 and when i looked at the engine, i noticed that it only said BMW and not BMW M Power. Also, inside the car, on the dash there is no ///M symbol and as a matter of fact, it only says ///M3 on the back on the car. I am wondering if these are tells or a fake m3. From the outside, it looks like a m3, and it even sounds like one, but why would it not say BMW M Power on the engine or anywhere esle on the car.

Thanks for the tip guys, i`ll get his VIN and do a check on it. But theriotically speaking, do all M models say "BMW M Power" on the engine, and have any //M symbols inside like on the dash and shifter?

Mine does, and I haven't seen one yet that doesn't. You may want to find some pics of the M engines available and look for differences, like the Intake Mani, or the exhaust piping....there's differences to be noticed....and yes my M say ///M on my guage cluster, door sills and side molding. I don't see why BMW would skimp out on these things, honestly I would say back away from this deal....I'd hate to see an enthusist get burned.

edit: my door trim says M3 not ///M. but the cluster shows ///M. hope this helps.
