can anyone with a 5series verify if there was such a thing as timed ventilation? the name might be wrong, but basically what it does is it starts up the HVAC fan at a time you preset. this starts cooling the car before you enter it on a hot summer day.

Yes it is available on the five series.

My boss has that on his older 7 Series, but I think you (on his at least) can only program two sessions. That is 2 on times and 2 off times.

My wife's 540 has it. We have no use for it, but I can see where someone at work in a sunny, hot environment would!
