I am so beat.
My flight on southwest was late and i did not arrive into portland until 12:30 AM as oppose to 11:20. So it did not begin to well. I have to take a 7:00AM bus from PDX to Salem Oregon. Got into hotel was told that 6:15 shuttle to PDX is full, so my only hope is either to take 5:45AM shuttle or 6:45. (6:45 shuttle is too late for my bus ride). So I ended getting about 4 hours of sleep. On top of that, i neglect to take my camera out of my baggage, and it got damaged by southwest. So i lost a digital camera.
Got to the dealer at 8:15 AM, on my way at 9:00AM and got back home at 7:00 PM.
Brief summary.
This car is simply amazing. The steering is precise as laser, great feedback through out the speed range. Unlike my E55's totally unlinear steering, the M5 steering feedback put E55 to shame. M5 is very nimble and it actually drove a lot like my E46 M3. As a driver you really can't believe that you are driving a big 4 door sedan.
The EDC at softest setting is not too stiff. Even though it is still more stiff than E55's Airmaric in sports II setting, the ride on the highway is very smooth and cushy. Unlike the M3's harsh ride with 19" the M5 EDC is softest setting is as good a cruiser as E55.
One thing that had really concerned me was SMG. I disliked the SMGII on the M3. However, I was totally wrong on the SMGIII. Although not as smooth as DSG, the SMGIII comes very close to matching it in terms of smoothness. The jerkiness is almost gond from the SMGIII. Also, one complain that i had with SMGII is that when you downshift more than 2 gears, SMGII will delay engage the lower gear for a second. This is gone in SMGIII. You can down shift 3 gears without delay.
The I-drive and voice command is so easy to use. The voice recognition is by far one of the best i have used. A lot of people complain that I-drive is hard to use. That is a BS, I drive is easy to use and with voice command you don't even need to touch the i-drive knob.
I was only able to take two picture after picking up a new digital camera in redding.
