I did a few 0-60 sprints in my ~400hp coupe and took a video of one of them. My best time was 4.4 seconds.

Here's the Vortech s/c with RMS aftercooler and 11lb pulley

I would have thought it would be quicker. I think the regular S54 with a 3.46 rear can do 4.4, but then again, I'm no expert. :dunno:

How were you doing the timing measurement?

I'm no expert at launches so I'm sure a seasoned drag racer could get it down a couple of tenths. I timed it using Adobe Premiere (video software). I used the movement of the car to be the start and the rpm needle hitting redline to finish.

Gearing is a problem in my car. It's very hard to get the most of out first gear since it's over so quickly. I think better times would be made with slightly taller gear ratios that would make the launch much smoother and first gear more usable.

Which rear end ratio are you running?

The standard rear end, whatever that is. Will I run into problems if I go taller (say the rear end from the '02 328i)? maybe torque to the drivetrain will be higher because of more resistance from the rearend (or something like that)

his time probably woulda been better had he had a better start. Seemed to be a very mild start (at least from the video)

Yes, that's an 8-rib belt and pulley. It's high boost kit from RMS (10 or 11lbs I think)

hmm, I only have a 6 rib, and I was running 11 psi. I've dropped it to 8 psi though. Cant tell much of a difference if any.

BTW: do you have a dyno with the a/f plotted out? I have never seen an RMS tuned car with a smooth or safe a/f curve. Good dyno numbers. I've got similar HP running 8psi on 91 octane, still more torque though :p

I don't have a plot for a/f, but I was pretty happy with what I saw at the dyno. It's not smooth, but it looks safe :) I think that accounts for my slightly conservative hp and torque readings. The power curve is also very choppy, not smooth at all!

as long as you're running about 12:1 above 4K, you should be safe. RMS tends to tune their cars dangerously lean. My dyno chart was ugly from them. Power curve shoudlnt be choppy either. Little, but not a roller coaster. Check out my old 2.5 dyno on RMS tuning. Its ugly!!! Waaaay too lean for running 11 psi
