Here's the story:
I bought these for my 2003 530i (E39) w/ M54 3.0L motor. I got them used from a E36 M3 owner who only used them for 100 miles but decided to do something else with his car.

These work on all M52 motors (2.3, 2.8), S52 and most M54 motors (2.5,3.0). I was going to install these in my late 2003 M54 3.0L, but apparently, in late 2003, BMW changed the ignition coils to the newer type that is used in the S54 motors. Ironically, i also just got a recall notice from BMW for the stock ignition coils in my car.

If you want to check for sure, take off your engine cover and see if your plugs are held on by bolts or are they "twist off". If each one is held on by two hex bolts and you have one of the motors listed above, it should work. If there are no bolts and they are simply "snapped" in, then it won't fit.

so looking at the dyno graphs....

lots of $$$ for 5hp & 1 ft-lb of torque?

bump for a good deal, but why would anyone buy at retail?

Some other htread around about these that links to several threads where the do NOTHING. Or put it this way, the local hot ITS BMW race cars don't run them, so they must not do too much, as they will run ANYTHING that will actually produce more power.
