MY02 - built May 2002, so it has the 54pin connection for CPT8000 TCU or BT ULF ready.

Ok, I know it's an older technology, but I already have the phone and use it on my M5. Anyways my problem is, the phone won't connect. I've plugged in the TCU, so I now get the "TELEPHONE" option on my NAV. I installed the mic in the sunroof console, I've installed the cradle. Plugged in the phone, phone beeps and the battery starts to blink (charging) but it still says "Phone Connected?" I've tried my cradle adapter from the M5 and still the same thing, I've also switched the TCU and both gave me the same error. I've done also opposite and tried on M5 and it works so I know the TCU is not broken. The one thing I don't have is the SES module in the X5, it does have the black dongle (not blue) on the connector. I don't think I need the SES module for this to work? What I'm going to do when I get home is take out the one from my M5 and plug it in and see if that will fix it.

If not any other clues?

I had to buy these adapters so they work with my Pre-wired Phone system

There is a small cable just under/along the center console on the driver's side. This cable connects the cradle in the armrest to the main BT wiring harness under the driver's seat. You need to check the pins/wire colors on the connectors to match your M5. The pin outs are different for cars with the CPT phone and the BT. I bet you that's where your problem is...

does anyone have the 18-pin placements for the BT part so I know which ones should be going where. This is for the Cradle.

well couldn't figure out...so decided to get the old Multimeter out to test for Continuity...no luck either... the Phone connected wire should be Grey/White...tested all leads and no go. Don't know where that wire went to from TCU to the connecter was Grey/White, by the time it gets to the crade there's no Grey/White.
