i have a 2002 325xi and want to put my ipod into my stereo. the radio wave length things at the apple store are no good, i don't have a tape player, and so i find that my two options are 1) auxillary cable and 2) ipod adapter. i heard the aux cable can only work for 2003+...is this true? why? can i get it any other way?
the ipod adapter is like 160 and the parts are another 100 or something ridiculous like that. anybody have any other suggestions?
thanks

They changed the head unit with 2003 production and the aux input was a feature of the new head unit. Dension Icelink would be another option, but probably not a very low cost one.

If you don't have a trunk mounted CD changer, you might want to consider using this adapter: http://pie.net/index-2-details.cfm?recordID=BMW/PC-SON. You can purchase it for $80 on this site: http://discountave.net/bmw3.html.

This adapter has RCA plugs and can be used as an AUX input. You will need to run an extension cable from the trunk to the dash, but it will give you what you want. Here are some links: http://www.trianglecables.com/255-036.html, http://www.trianglecables.com/12footminste.html

Hope this helps....JL

Do you have or want a CD Changer? Do you have or want satellite radio? I learned the hard way that it pays to think about future mods to your car before starting one in the present.
