Im looking for a cheap muffler to finish the exhaust on my 94 325 ive got the m3 manifold and cats, just need a muffler. Im willing to drive a good distance from San Antonio, if you dont want to ship, or if i can save a little on shipping compared to gas, drives are enjoyable. If you have anything please send me an email to Justin_andtherobe@hotmail.com If interested i also have a oem 6disc trunk changer A Id really like just trade for the exhaust but otherwise would sell out for $150 shipped. Its got the mounting bracket and looks pretty clean, but no carpet cover like ive heard some have. My camera is missing, i think its been snagged but ill try to get pics upon request.

You do know that M3 exhausts are heavier than a 325 exhaust and dont improve HP. :dunno:

nope I had no clue, I had a hole in my manifold so I figured why not go with m3, heard they had better flow. found a good deal on a m3 manifold set. My cats and exhaust have been rewelded what I count to be 4 times, and the pipe sizing looks rediculously restrictive when it goes from 2 pipes to 1 the single pipe looks smaller than each one of the two. then when it goes to one pipe it goes into my magniflow muffler, but looks like its got a 3 inch inlet with a 2 inch pipe welded wayyy to close to the muffler, so I got a set of cats off a m3 and figured i would just go with the exhaust as well. What would be your suggestion.

Depends on what you want out of an exhaust.

M3 is certainly an easy and relativly inexpensive way to go if you just want it to sound better and retain the OEM look.

Mose aftermarket mufflers will flow more air. But not so much that you will notice it when you drive. Also, it could possibly play with where your car makes power. They tend to make any HP gains higher in the rev range.

You have to decide your budget and priorities...Looks, function, sound, etc.

well im definately on a budget. The magnaflow seems kinda loud which I really dont mind, I think it sounds good, but im definately more of a sleeper car driver. I wont use decals, or anything else that really sticks out, but its hard to tell now becase of the hole Ive got in the manifold. Would you know if the catback from my 325 is the same size as the m3, if I could do that It would probably be much easier for me to tell if i was able to test out both catbacks with new m3 manifold and cats.

As I recall they are the same size. Maybe someone with a 325 that has put a M3 exhaust on can comment.
But as I recall they are interchangeable.

If your budget is a concern than a used M3 exhaust might be a good option. As well you might find a used 325 exhaust that someone took off to put on a aftermarket exhaust.

Just one note on used exhausts. Since you dont know how the car was driven the exhaust may be in great condition or could be a month away from rust through. Its a gamble you'll be taking.

My original post about the weight was because most people want to fit the M3 exhaust thinking it will give them some sort of performance boost. Which is not accurate. If you arent doing it for that reason than Id say a used OEM M3 or 325 exhaust would be an expediant and economical choice to solve your problem.

Well I was thinking it would be a better option than a stock 325 exhaust. Are you saying there wont be any difference at all? except maybe that the m3 exhaust is actually heavier? Sounds like I should just try to fix the magnaflow and resell the m3.

The M3 exhaust will certainly sound different/better. it is heavier. And any performance gain that you would get from the less restricitve flow would likely be negated by the weight gain.

Do you have a chip or CAI on the car?

only other mods are cosmos CAI, tms chip is on the way, and I plan on getting uuc underdrive pulleys soon (im gonna see if anyone wants to buy em for me for xmas otherwise ill get em after. Bilsteins sport shocks, and eibach springs. Then for whats probably gonna be no more mods for a while, except suspension, xbrace, m3 rear sway, and AA strut bars, Some newer tires. eventually (whenever clutch goes ltw fly, and better clutch. Whenever I can find a good deal on a LSD that too.) What will be about next summer, HFM, 24# injectors, & cams with a newer chip for all.
