View Full Version : 1998 OBC question - Auto start option?

I'm new to the BMW world...but I have a question regarding the OBC in my 98 M3.

Everytime I start my car, I have to manually push a button on the OBC in order for it to 'turn on' or at least show any type of display....is this normal? It seems strange that it wouldn't come on just like the radio or any other display item...am I doing something wrong?

Thanks guys,

The OBC, unlike a speedometer, doesn't automatically shows anything when you start the car unless something is wrong. (low coolant, broken lights, etc...) If you want it to show something, just press the corresponding button when you want it.

As far as I know, there's no way to make to show, say RANGE, automatically when you turn on the car.

Hope that answers your question.

What happens if you press and hold the BC turn stalk button while turning on the ignition?

If that wakes up the OBC, you might only need to add a couple parts to call up the first function you have programmed to the turn stalk.

I wish there was a way to get it to turn on automatically....oh well, it's still INCREDIBLE to drive.

Thanks again,
