I'm looking at purchasing a 2004 745Li with 5800 miles. While it possible that some old lady had the car, as the dealer states, and didn't drive it much; 5800 miles seems unrealistically low. My question is: with digital odometers is it an easy thing for the mileage to be rolled back or am I safe assuming that the mileage is correct.

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah it seems pretty real to me. Not that hard to find one with low miles. Just be sure it wasnt a dealer demo or a salvage.

We had a 2004 a couple months ago with 2000 miles. Yes, 2000 miles.

It really did belong to a little old lady that drove it the few miles from her house to the mill where she worked.

It doesn't have to be an old lady. My wife's 2004 Nissan has been driven for just over 4000 miles in the past 14 months. She just drops off our kids at school, and then picks them up.

Yes its real.... My brother has a 2004 745li with only 13,986. Now that is really really low. I hardly see him driving it.

Ours only has 9,000. We drive the Jeep 3-4x more. The 7 is a great car, just not always a practical car.

Well that makes me feel better about the mileage. Thanks very much for your imput. I'm heading down to the dealer this afternoon to take a look at the car. While I'm in the area I plan to look at four other cars as well.

i was told many times by my friends that BMWs have also odometer inside of rear wheels and/or transmission. a good mechanic would be able to get that reading if this is in fact true.

For the record, and take it from someone who work on BMW's, the odometer can not, I repeat CAN NOT, be rolled back if its digital, if it's anolog and you try to roll it back the speedo won't work, with bmw's and all digital speedo's there are more than just the speedo that has to be changed (that info i can not release). Also carfax does work.
