Either Williams will go ultra conservative with the set up, or there will be a mechanical failure in Montoyas future.

Too bad the Williams isn't much of a chassis. JPM looked so fast on that lap. Funny thing was, Michael looked even faster. Whatever the outcome of the race it was nice to see Michael beaten at something.

They've acknowledged that they were running over 19000 rpm. The first time ever an F1 car has gone that high. Mario Thiessen has indicated that they won't race the engine as qualified yet, but might at Indy if they can get enough time on it. Monza is about engine power. This is the kind of bold move needed to put pressure on Ferrari. Agreed the chassis will need to improve too.

Here's to Juan Pablo.

Imagine if they were running on the classic Monza configuration without all the stupid chicanes. Then we'd see some speeds by golly! Curva Grande at 220 mph would separate the men from the gokart racers real quick.

Agreed, the chicanes ruin a classic track. Seems like they could do somthing less radical to slow the cars down. The first chicane is particularly ridiculous.

That's right. Qualifying would be one thing, but the race would be another. The slipstreaming would be great, but dangerous.

I just wanted to thank you for the spoiler in the post title. You could have at least waited until after qualifying was shown on TV. :thumbdwn:
