I was at my local BMW dealership getting some work done on my 330xi so I spent some time in the sales department checking out their launch car M5. I asked my sales rep if he had any info on the new M3, oh yeah.
As far as he knows, the next M3 is going to have the same engine in the M5, minus two cylinders. So the possibly the same 7-speed SMG transmission and the 8500RPM redline. Basically a lighter M6 with compressed/tweaked styling and no power button to pump out 507HP, so it maxes at the M6's low power 400HP mode.
Lets see, if the current M5 has 0-60mph of 4.3 (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1439117&posted=1#post1439117) then the next M3 should be, wha 4.5? A freakin rocket.
