First Ticket in the BMW

Tis 3:26am. i just got a ticket on the highway doing 76 in a 60 (cruise control was on) by an UNDERCOVER, BLACK cruiser, with no lights on what so ever...hiding in a F'n ditch! im chapped. 90 buckaroos...set up a fund for me? :thumbup:

76? That's it? $90.. thats it? ;) I my last ticket was 143 for 90 in a 65. Stupid CHP. Oh well, if they had caught me late at night like you I probably would have been arrested. I usually go 110-125 on my way home from fullerton (usually visit friends out there... its just the other side of the county).

Hey, take your ticket to court... have it delayed as many times as possible, then hope the officer doesn't show. :) Or, you could always get serious about fighting it... have a case and all. :p Make the state work for your $90.

No Radar Detector in your car. They pick up what you can't see or don't see :) I was saved many times by mine. I have the new Passport :thumbup:

side note:
A cop confiscated your radar detector? I didn't think that was legal. In VA they'll ticket you and write the radar dectors serial number on your ticket but they give it back.

He probably put your detector on ebay or somethin! :madrazz:

Fight it. As a fellow Ohioan, state law requires cops to at least have their parking lights on in somewhat of a conspicuous position. Undercover or not, if they are going to pull you over for something fairly arbitrary to them, they must adhere to what laws exist for plain clothes or normal cops. It may turn into a he said, he said deal, but I know for a fact that the cops must at least have their parking lights on when hunting, so to speak. No light=no case. gl

yeah i would look up that law for the light issue. I know in Iowa i thought the same but when i asked my ex-fatherinlaw one day (county attorney) and he said that they can park anywhere they want with no lights on. so i would double check that one..

unfortunatly i looked into that today...in 2001 ohio changed the law that says lights have to be on...so in that area im screwed...oh well its just a ticket. i made enough tonight at work to pay it off so im fine i guess...still chapped though...and like you said i was barely speeding...i had the cruise cont. on for god sakes. :rolleyes:

and the radar detector was taken from me in DC. lol it probably was put on ebay! :rofl:

Hey freddy you mention that the lights were off. and the state law said lights are to be on starting in 2001?? if that is the case fight it..i know here in Iowa 8 out of ten 10 the cops wont show up to court cause they dont want to get there buts out of bed if they work the night shift..it happened to me a couple of times.

no no no the state law in 2001 changed from the NEED of having lights on to NO NEED to have them on..so it dosent help. it dosent matter its just a ticket....what would being young have to do with 3:30am? :bigpimp:

haha fun tax! i love it!....yea but i was just laid back going home with cruise control on. it would be more worth it if i have my foot on the pedal, and some nice obsticals for car to perform

LOL i got busted doing 87 in a 50 on my way to an english exam in june. ticket was 277$ and 4 demerit points (canadian system) i went to court and got the charge reduced to a 90$ fine and 3 demerit points. Its funni seeing the look on a cops face when he pulls over a 17 year old driving a bimmer doing 37 over the limit.

so was your cruise control set to 76mph? or did it just go over that much? cause mine usually stays pretty much exactly where i set it.

oh and i got my first ticket a little while back as well, no lights on also, didn't think to check into it, but i'm sure it's legal for them here in NC. i took a defensive driving course tho and they wrote it off as an equipment failure. i still have the ticket, 27 over.

Well since we're all talking tickets......I got my first one about a month after I got it....driving up to college with a car COMPLETELY FULL of stuff and my dad riding shotgun. :thumbdwn:

The @$$ motorcycle cop was sitting on the side of the road and picked the nicest car out of the bunch and decided to give him a ticket, even though cars two lanes over were going faster.....the only bad part was that that was me. :mad:
