Just picked up a 750i yesterday and been trying to get the bluetooth to work but no luck. My phone recognizes the car and asks for a password tried 1234 and 0000 none worked. But the dealer said the car ususally recognizes the phone and asks for the password not the other way around. Tried it with a new razr and a treo no luck with either anyone have any tips? I was rather dissapointed they didnt get this set up for me, I only just bought an $80,000 car from them. :tsk:

My daughter just bought a new 330 and we ordered her a bluetooth for xmas. We only had 2 to choose from that is supposed to work with Verizon and it is the e815 and the v710. At the Bmw owners circle it publishes a list of carriers and what phone to buy. Razr is listed for th Cingular service. It is disappointing to hear that yours did not work. We just spend 65k on a O5 745li and cannot get a phone. What a pain! Wish I had kept my 02 745i at least my phone worked!!!

I would suggest going to www.phonescoop.com before buying any phone.

A good phone should come first before worry about syncing. or you will be syncing a crappy phone.

The v710? :tsk:

It did not work for you, because you did not try the correct password.

Your Bluetooth password is a 4 digit code, located on a sticker, on a pull out card, that is written in a bunch of different languages, in the little book pack, that came with your car.
Mine was something like 9004

First you use your Idrive and get to the blutooth area. Highlight PARING, but dont hit it yet.
Then go to your Motorola phone to the bluetooth section, make sure discoverable is off.
Then, add a headset/device like your normally would add a headset. Then quickly hit the idrive to start the paring.. you'll see a new headset BMWXXXX appear on your PHONE. Then enter the code from the above sheet on your phone. (phone detects car, your dealer is wrong. they need to read the manual)

Hope this helps. I synced bluetooth with my phone, and it works 10x better than my previous headset Motorola HS850 which I thought I would never replace.

In every phone I've ever paired with any car, it is ALWAYS Phone detects Car. Regardless of what the car's OM may, or may not say, always use, and follow the pairing instructions provided with your phone.
It's a very simple 4-5 step process, if you read and follow the directions correctly.

the motorola e 815 works very well. the phone fits the optional cradle and gets great reception.

The dealer should give you a 4-digit code to type into your phone. It was on one of the forms that came with the car. I have a Sprint Treo 650 and it works great.

Has anyone upgraded their 2008 BMW 750i software to the newer 2011 version. I am not sure of the versions numbers, but newer BMW have a significantly better software platform, including the blue tooth capabilities
thanks

In the trunk of your car, there is a module with the 4 digit code. It is on the left side of the trunk, just forward of the door where your Nav disk & DVD changer are located. You will have to pull the gray part back, to get access.

Here it is!

Good Luck!

Bluetooth has nothing to do with your phone carrier. BMW claims that some phones are not supported but any Bluetooth phone should work.

Actually I & another member had a problem yesterday with
his Sprint phone finding the cars Bluetooth . Both my phones
( Galaxy SII & iphone 4 ) found the cars Bluetooth very fast ,
but his Sprint Evo only found the bluetooth when we opened
the trunk & were standing close to the TCU ( weird but True )

grant you I had just Retro-fitted a Bluetooth TCU & MMI in his car ,
but regardless of that his Sprint phone was having trouble finding
the Bluetooth .

Just bought a new Iphone 4S and have tried to connect it via blue tooth to my 05 750Li update, Scroll through the Idrive menus until I find Bluetooth and I select it to turn it on and my phone cannot find it vice versa, Question is if I have already got the professional phone installed and a SIM card fitted should I still be able to connect via Bluetooth?

Not sure on 05, my 06 with the iphone 4s syncs perfectly. I am not sure about the bluetooth. Does your old phone connect to the car?

What is "the professional phone" and SIM card fitted?

No never tried to connect my old phone to the car. The professional phone as far as I know from BMW is the phone in the upper tray just below the climate control and the sim card is needed for the phone to work just like in a normal mobile phone.

The dashboard phone is an extension of the Bluetooth. Sounds like you may know this. It only works through the iPhone and functions as a dialer with the iPhone in your pocket. I rarely use it. I did not know about the sim card, I guess mine has it. I wonder of the 05 iPhone compatible.

You talking about the small key pad that pushes in and out or the cordless phone in the drawer in your car.

If you have the Professional phone in a 2005 facelift you cannot pair with your phone. The Bluetooth pairs only with the handset in the front drawer, BMW implemented a crippled Bluetooth stack in these TCUs. The facelifted E65s did not get full BT functionality until Sep 06.

You need to replace the TCU with a post-Q3/2006 unit.

Methinks we have found the answer for the OP. My '08 has NO bluetooth issues and my iphone syncs with the car and the dash phone perfectly.

Try the last 4 digits of your BMW VIN.
