Hey guys i just signed up to this forum to help a friend out. Hes thinking about buying a 1993 325i w/ 85k miles. I was suspious about the mileage and when i did a carfax it said that there was a problem with the Odometer but it was not rolled back. I guess some mechical issue with it?? Anywayz i am trying to find out how to get the Real mileage on the Car. I believe you can do this through the ECU?? Will i have to take it to a shop or dealership to get the real mileage? Also some things about the car. It was in an accident even though carfax didnt bring that part up. The only thing that was damaged was the Front bumper, and the raditor. I dont think any frame damage was done or anything else. But my friends dad drove the car. He said the engine seem to repsonde nice and everything. Only thing wierd about the whole situation was that the car did not have REar Springs!!! I guess they were going to Strip it or maybe trasfering parts from one beamer to another. Oh and the Car is going for $3800. I went to edmunds and vavlue was around 3600 for private party. I told my friend that the max he should pay is $3500. And bargin for $3000. What do you guys think about this.

Thanks,

Orlando

i didnt know beamers had rear springs. I know bimmer do. Anyway my thougth is 3500 or so isnt a bad price if the body is in good shape, along with the interior and engine are good. thats my .02 i paid 2200 for my 89 e30 pretty good shape with 206k on it.

Ha ha, smartass. what he means is that Beamers (or Beemers) refer to the motorcycle, and Bimmers refer to the car.

Anyway, the instrument clusters on some E36 3 series models had minor repair issues, and it's still possible that 85k could be the correct mileage. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Get a compression test done on the engine, and have the cooling system pressure tested for leaks or weaknesses. And I'd definitely find out what the deal is with the missing springs, and fight for a much lower price because of that.

iight thanks for the info. I dont think they are going to go lower then $3800. So they told my friend buy it or leave it. So hes still deceiding. We might take it to a mechanic to have it checked out so see if everything else is in good order.

Thanks,
