Jon - I have a question regarding the policy for providing loan vehicles for warranty service on new BMWs (3 Series in particular).

Is the policy set by individual dealer, or is it provided by BMW corporate?

The reason I ask is I am considering a purchase from Cutter, but I live in South Orange County and it isn't exactly practical to drive to SB for service, so the service aspects are a factor in my purchase decision.

I see you are busy Thursday, so no worries if you can't reply soon.

Thanks.

I am not Jon, but I may be able to answer this.

Service loaner policies are set by the individual dealers. When a dealer gives you a loaner it is on the dealers dime and not BMWNA. BMWNA does not reimburse dealer for loaner costs.

BMWNA does however, give dealer breaks on the cost of acquiring BMWs for their loaner fleet if they provide BMW for loaners, but if they use Enterprise or another outside rental firm, the dealer pays for it all.

Excellent analysis Ben...

They (BMWNA) do, subsidize a rather large portion of
the dealer's monthly payment for the service loaner vehicle
(around $500.00/mo. subsidy, depending on model)...
