The top speed governer and revlimit are on the same chip that controls your fuel injection and timing.
You can't just remove it, the car wouldn't run. You will need to purchase an aftermarket chip to the tune of about $250-$300.

^^^^ What he said. It also matters what year your car is. OBDI gets chip and OBDII gets software injector. Research it.

im just curious, would the governor actually have anything to do with acceleration at all? i recently went on a highway run and after a certain speed(roughly 140km/h) and the acceleration fell sharply. i was in third gear and it just felt as if it didnt want to rev anymore, but the speed kept going up slowly and crawled up to about 180km/h before i stopped.
whats weird is, i was driving right next to a toyota echo, and we were going about 140km/h or so, and his car started to pull ahead much faster then my car did with my foot on the floor. i know my automatic transmission takes alot of power along with my all wheel drive setup, but thats pretty sad and it makes me wonder whats holding it back

BeRzErKaS,
Your car looks very high at the back, what have you done to the suspension ???

doesnt look like hes done anything, i think its just the huge rims that give it that appearence, that and the camera angle

Yah, it's mostly the camera angle. I don't know, I was trying to be "artsy." Photography is not my strong point.
The wheels are 18" and rub a little bit even though I've had them rolled. So I have waited on upgrading/lowering the suspension until I was ready to start on the body work. I will get the fenders flared and the entire car resprayed soon, once the weather warms up.
Right now all my money is going towards prepping the motor for MORE BOOST! :yikes:

Hi, reading the post about the limit chip or acceleration limit, I don't think it has something to do with it. I have a 328i and so far haven't reached the governor. I have been going 210 km/hr (130 mi/hr) and no problem at all. Even at 160 km/hr (100 mi/hr) if I accelerate for passing another car, my beemer goes all the way. I'm kind of noob about tech stuff of my bmw, but I know that. Hope it helps. Cheers

You're in which country? US models have different speed governing than that of Euro-Spec bimmers.

I've been wondering the same thing about performance chips. I know my bimmer has great pick up speed between 40 and 60 mph yet my 0-60 speed is horrible. Also my gas milage is terrible and my car idles rough when I'm at a stop (such as a traffic light).

Ive got 9 inch wide 17's on the back of my bm, they are set in to the car more by having the inside of the wheel (where it joins flat to the hub) skimmed back so as the outside rim of the wheel sits further in to the body, ive got the arches rolled aswell and managed 245/40/17 tyres on the back. The front are totally different, you cant get away with moving the wheels further in to the body because of the inside rubbing on full lock.
Im thinking about doing one of these "VF SC" that you all talk about over there, can you let me know how to get in touch with someone about it?

You might need new oxygen sensor(s). Specifically pre-cat.
Is your car an automatic? (auto = slow 0-60 time)

That car only has one o2 sensor.
There could be any number of reasons for a rough idle. If the OBC isn't throwing a code for the o2 sensor I wouldn't start my search there.
Id start by looking at the fuel and ignition systems. When were the plugs last changed? are all the plug wires in good condition and connected to the plugs properly?
When was the fuel filter last changed?
The cheapest first step would be to try a bottle of Techron. Follow the instructions on the label.
